We have arrived!!

As we are now in NL I will update the blog in English [counting on the fact that most Dutchies will be able to read this as well]

The journey was OK! I mean as much ok as it can be because it is just a very long flight and that's never fun. We got to the airport on time with very little stress and have to thank John's mum for this as she came in early to look after Luca while we did the last of our packing. It was the very last of our packing though because for once we were very organised. Sydney to Hong Kong was a breeze. We had the whole front row to ourselves, 4 chairs and a basinet for Luca, what a joy. Luca was great, went for a couple of walks up and down the plane and made lots of friends on the way. She slept for a good 4 hours of the 9 hour trip. Hong Kong to Amsterdam proved to be a little more challenging, with people rolling their eyes as we took our seats. This time it was all a bit more cramped. Luca and John managed to get sleep, Luca I think about 6 hours of a close to 13 hour flight. I dosed off twice but that was it for me. A bit too anxious and excited I guess.

Luca handeld the flight realy well, just like any other toddler, or maybe even better as she was very settled and kept herself occupied with her toys and other people. All this worry for nothing:-)

At the airport we were picked up by mum, dad and Jacco and my friend Natas [she just always seems to be there, when we come or go]. Then on our way to Nijkerk to settle in at mum and dad [oma and opa for Luca] As you can all imagine they have been all over her and Luca absolutely loves it. She also got to meet her uncle Jacco and the two of them seem to get along well. Luca was very excited to be in a new environment and did not want to go to sleep for a while. Then she crashed for a couple of hours. We woke her so she could meet Terry, our old neighbour from Amsterdam who dropped by. Great to see him! Luca managed to stay awake for a couple of hours, before going to bed at 6 pm NL time. She then slept for a good 10 hours ...................to wake up at 4 am............... pfffffff

Today we are going to take it easy, trying to get into a bit of a routine before the catching up starts. I'm happy and relieved that all went so well! Happy we did bite the bullet and booked those tickets.

We gaan nu de deur uit!!!!!!

Kater

Ik loop al het hele weekend rond met een kater. En dat is niet alleen van de wijn die ik vrijdagavond heb gedronken. Ik ben toch wel heel erg teleurgesteld dat Luca's hartfunctie niet vooruit is gegaan. Hetzelfde geldt voor John, hij had ook hoge verwachtingen. En dan schreef ik afgelopen vrijdag wel zo mooi over "in het nu leven" maar die instelling is momenteel toch echt ver te zoeken. Ik baal, ben boos en verdrietig en maak me zorgen; wat betekent dit nu voor Luca.
Niemand die het antwoord heeft.

Cardioloog

Gisteren zijn we bij de cardioloog geweest. Helaas weer niet dat goede nieuws waar we zo op hadden gehoopt. Haar hartfunctie [de manier waarop haar hartje samentrekt] is volgens de cardioloog niet vooruit gegaan, tenminste niet in die mate dat het voor hem waarneembaar was op de echo. Dat viel ons tegen.
Niet het goede nieuws waar we op gehoopt hadden, maar ook geen slecht nieuws. De cardioloog was verder erg tevreden over haar. Hij vond dat ze er erg goed uitzag. Verder zag alles er goed uit op de echo. Hij is nog altijd optimistisch dat de hartfunctie zal verbeteren. Ik dacht dat een verslechterde hartfunctie misschien een indicatie zou kunnen zijn om de derde operatie eerder uit te voeren maar de cardioloog zei juist het tegenovergestelde.
We blijven hopen dat er vooruitgang zal komen, misschien volgende keer.
Hoewel teleurgesteld merk ik toch dat ik beter in staat ben het van me af te zetten. En dat komt omdat ik erg in het NU leef. Ik heb hier al eens eerder over geschreven. Toen schreef ik dat ik erg in het nu leefde omdat de toekomst te beangstigend was en het verleden te emotioneel. Nu is het meer een bewuste keuze. Het was eigenlijk de rode draad in de gesprekken met de psychologe. Alles wat we hebben is het NU en er zijn geen garanties voor de toekomst. Voor niemand. Ik zeg het vaak zacht tegen mezelf, als een soort mantra; Nu is goed, dus het leven is goed.

kinderarts

Vandaag zijn we bij onze nieuwe kinderarts geweest. Dokter Katf, wat een verademing! Hele aardige vrouw, ik voelde me erg bij haar op mijn gemak. Ik weet niet of ze alle tijd had, maar ze nam het in ieder geval wel voor ons.
Ze was erg tevreden over Luca. Ze is weer iets gegroeid, ze is bijna 69 cm en ze weegt 8,5 kg.
Morgen naar de cardioloog, spannend…………………..

In de achtertuin hebben we een grote pot staan, precies Luca's maat:-)













Gisteren hadden we het verjaardagsfeestje van Bonne. Een BBQ bij Bronte Beach, groot succes! Jullie raden het al, wederom prachtig weer wind misschien ietsje koud maar in de zon was het heerlijk.

Moet het hier nu even bij laten, Luca wil aandacht! Misschien schrijf ik vanavond nog even, anders moeten jullie het maar weer met deze foto's doen.
